- Two in Three Adults Worldwide Are Financially Illiterate
Two-thirds of adults worldwide are financially illiterate, with sizable gaps between men and women. Adults were tested on their knowledge of risk diversification, inflation, numeracy and compound interest. Respondents were considered financially literate if they were able to correctly answer questions about three of the four concepts. Scandinavian countries have the highest score globally (71%), US ranks at number 14 with 57% literacy. US gender gap is about 10%, in men's favour - worldwide the number is 30% for women, and 35% for men.
